One of the unique opportunities in Samoa is to swim with turtles at either Satoalepai Wetlands in Savaii or off Namua Island.
Satoalepai is an inland sanctuary where green turtles are raised in the part fresh-water / part salt-water wetlands. This stunning location has a partitioned pool where a half a dozen green turtles are looked after by the local landowners. It is possible to stay overnight in the over water fales and swim with the turtles. The turtles are part of a conservation drive in Samoa to raise awareness of these supreme sea mammals and to help safeguard their future. The turtles are released into the ocean when they become reproductive.
If you would rather the opportunity to swim with green turtles in their natural environment, the best place is off the south east coast of Upolu around the Aleipata Islands.
