Samoa snorkelling can be good but many of the beach locations have only average snorkelling as the fringing reef is either too far from shore or too the lagoon is too rough. One of the best snorkelling sites in Samoa is at the protected Palolo Deep Marine Reserve in the heart of Apia Town. Here you'll find lots of colourful marine fish drawn to the big blue hole that sits in the middle of the Reserve.

There is good snorkelling off Namua Island off the east coast of Upolu and off the beaches of the south west coast of Upolu. Savaii only has a few good snorkelling spots, the best being off Faga Village on the east coast. Snorkelling gear is generally hard to find in samoa (most beach fales don't provide gear although the luxury beach resorts do). If you are an avid snorkel enthusiast, it's best to bring your own.
